"FREE" web site meta tags aren't what they used to be!
Did you know that the value (search impacting/crawling) of your FREE meta tags has dropped by 90%? Worse yet...Google has announced that the remaining 10% value added will be further reduced...eventually to "0"?
Why? Money is the answer. Google makes about $9 Billion a year selling paid for space advertising (pay-per click) and once they have established themselves as the premier search engine...our future somewhat lies in their hands as far as someone finding our web sites.
What can you do?
If you are basically satisfied with your web site - turn your attention to Internet marketing (buying key words) using or manipulating the search engines...often referred to as pay-per click. Basically the way this works is that you establish a "not to exceed" monthly budget for a period of time - usually no shorter than 4 months - the norm is 6 months. Your pre-designed ad will appear either in the top area or right column when certain search terms area used... When someone clicks on your ad - you are charged and they are immediately sent to whatever page of your web site you want them to be sent. The cost per click changes dramatically depending on the industry you are in...and the big boys have already locked most of us out due to their deep pockets.
For example the mortgage industry: Due to their spend budgets - companies like Quicken Loans & Di- Tech have driven the price of "a click" to hundreds if not thousands of dollars...where in most cases the average cost is between $1.50 and $4.00, again depending on a number of factors.
Get educated!
My advice is - get educated! The parade has already started and we have all spent countless time and dollars in developing our web sites to find out that unless we send someone there directly or do something like mentioned above...who will find us on the internet?
Internet searches for services increased 60%-70% in 07' and will increase AGAIN in 08' by another 60%- 70%. HELP IS ON THE WAY
